I am a community focused Pastor with a BS in Business Development, a Master of Divinity with a focus on Family Ministry and Ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church. I am a dad, a husband, and a child of God. I love to hike, rock climb, play games, drink exceptional coffee, volunteer at my kid’s schools, and spend time with family. Twenty years’ experience in the following areas:  Planning, developing, and executing innovative programs to serve children, youth, adults, and local communities. Committed to encouraging others, caring for individuals, cultivating leadership, and innovating new ways to share the Gospel while inspiring others to do the same. Forward thinking leader focused on discipleship, strategy, transformational mission opportunities, multiethnic activities, and relational ministries.

Favorite Color: Green

Favorite Food: I enjoy pasta style dishes, salads, and healthy food in general. Frosted animal cookies and Oreos have my heart. My normal diet consist of protein drinks, eggs, and lots of vegetables.  

What I like to do in my spare time: My greatest joy is spending time with my kids and wife.  I enjoy playing board games, listening to podcasts, rock climbing, hiking, bicycling, and learning all kinds of new things. I could spend hours reading or listening to things that grow my mind.

Top 4 Songs: I enjoy a broad stroke of music.  The songs that I am currently listening to: Jireh by Maveric City Music, What Can Faith Do by Kutless, King Jesus by KB, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

Top 3 Movies: Gladiator, The Pursuit of Happiness, Star Wars (original Series) or Nightmare Before Christmas

Top 2 Books: Bible, Love Does or Everybody Always, Jesus Is___

Top 1 Person: I'm all about Jesus! I love learning more about who God is, why God cares so much for me, and the purpose that he has for my life and the lives of those around me.  The other person I admire and respect is my wife.  She is incredibly courageous, compassionate, and creative.  I am blessed to spend my life with this woman.  

Favorite Animals: I would say that I am a huge animal lover. My favorite animal is a monkey but since that is not legal to own in California dogs are a quick second.  Currently we have three dogs, two of which are rescues.  

Favorite Coffee Drink: As an avid coffee drink I enjoy black coffee done with the Chemex process.  The coffee beans I prefer is Holy Mountain by Chromatic Coffee Roasting.   

Favorite Place to Travel:  Personally, I love exploring the beauty of nature, putting down the electronics, and escaping from life for brief uninterrupted moments.  Cuba or Yosemite would be my preferred spaces to visit.

Awww... Oh gosh what do I say... what if I say it wrong and my pits start sweating... or my lucky socks are dirty that day... What do I do!?! HOPE UNITES By Alex Hardt Did you know when the sun set at night sailors   used the stars  to navigate? Stars move across the sky from east to west and some stars called rise and set stars begin and end their nightly path below the horizon. Sailors determined their heading by watching the movement of the stars the same way they watched the sun’s movement. Stars give sailors hope. No matter where they are on earth, they how to determine their direction based upon the stars. They know that if they just follow the stars they will eventually arrive at their destination. One of the things I have come to recognize is that God is like the stars in heaven. Our life can be overflowing with joy or overwhelmed by pain and yet God remains the same. Leadership Tools 9- Managing Confidentiality

Are you barking up the wrong tree?!? Working with teens is a tricky thing.  You want to earn their trust, but there is a fine line between earning their trust and forgetting that your primary responsibility is to keep them safe.  And yes sometimes keeping them safe means breaking confidentiality.  After 14 years in ministry I know that at times it can be trick and that each situation is needs to be handled differently, but there are some basic guidelines to help us navigate these tricky times. "So I've been smoking with some friends lately." James tone seemed to indicated that he wasn't talking about cigarettes. "You mean you were smoking pot?" "Yeah." Then a pause. "Wait, are you going to tell my parents, come on I trust you, your not going to tell my parents are you?" How might you respond to a question like that?... Do we tell the parents right away...
